Sustainable

Sustainability is a top priority at Sunshield. This already starts on the drawing board, when designing new products. Smart production also minimizes waste and scrap, and reuses this as much as possible. And not to forget, Sunshield's unique louvers have a long lifespan.

Sustainable Raw Material

With a share of more than 90%, aluminium is by far the most important raw material for Sunshield's slat systems. Both for the (aluminium) louvers and for the carriers. If there is a building material that is sustainable, it is without question; aluminium.

Of all aluminium ever produced, 75% is still in use. This is possible because aluminium can be reused again and again. Without loss of quality! Recycled aluminium retains its characteristic properties such as the silver-white color, light weight, strong and corrosion resistant.

Recycling is good for the environment in more ways than one. Compared to aluminium produced from bauxite (the raw ore), recycled aluminium requires only 5% of the amount of energy. That's quite a difference! And you also minimize waste.

Sustainable Production

Where possible, Sunshield also uses recycled aluminium. Whether the source of aluminium for louvers and carriers comes from bauxite, served as a soda can or airplane in a previous 'life', it makes no difference at all to the quality of the material and thus the end result.

Waste and scrap generated during the production process at Sunshield are also reused. If possible by Sunshield itself. Or else collected by a specialized company and recycled for reuse.

When developing new products, the aim is to minimize the use of raw materials. Both the louvers and the carriers are slender. This also distinguishes Sunshield from others in the market. The carriers are also extruded in such a way that they are strong without having to be massive.

Sunshield's unique louvers come in a wide variety. The stock therefore mainly consists of blank aluminium profiles. It is only produced to order. This also contributes to greater sustainability; overproduction is prevented in this way.

Durable to Use

Louvers are also friendly to the energy bill. In summer the sun is high and the louvers block the sun. Even if these are (partly) open. So you retain a view and the air conditioning does not have to be turned on, or can be set to a lower setting. In winter when the sun is low, the warmth of the sun is welcome. This contributes to the heating of the room and therefore to a lower energy bill.

As mentioned, sustainability is a top priority at Sunshield. So in addition to enhancing the character of the property, louvers are particularly practical for regulating daylight, and are friendly to energy bills, they are also sustainable and good for the environment and our planet.
