Villa, Bekhuis & KleinJan, Bergen op Zoom, NL

Bergen op Zoom

Bergen op Zoom is located in the southwest of the Netherlands, bordering the province of Zeeland. The city owes its name to the clash of clay and sandy soils, resulting in the hilly Brabantse Wal.

Here, a modern country villa designed by Bekhuis & KleinJan, has been fitted with six louver systems. All six are designed, manufactured and installed by Sunshield.

The louver system above the entrance extends to the roof ridge, forming an isosceles triangle. The second system, on the front facade, forms a beautiful right triangle.

At the rear, three trapezoidal louver systems have been installed. These start as a rectangle at the base. After a good half meter, the systems continue with a triangular shape.

The sixth louver system is placed at the end of the terrace and serves as a louvered wall. Louver walls protect against the sun, dusty winds, and prying eyes.

If you want a view or some ventilation, you simply open the louvers. This is a major advantage of walls with tilting louvers. For the five façade systems, the residents opted for the 96-E louver.

The 96-E louver has 96 mm wide blade. When fully open, the louvers offer a 9-centimeter view between them, providing ample daylight and a beautiful view.

For the louvered wall, the 155-E louver was preferred. Its blade has a width of 155 mm and a step of 14 centimeters. It therefore offers an even greater view than the 96-E slat.

Whether a narrower or wider louver is better is a matter of personal preference. Proportions play an important role too, of course; everything needs to be in balance.

All systems are equipped with a motor operated by remote control. Users can easily open or close the louvers, or put them in any desired position in between, with seamless adjustments.

The aluminum parts are coated in RAL 9004 with a fine texture. This texture gives the signal black coating a tactile and visible relief. The plastic parts, like the clips holding the louvers, are also black.
