Berkel-Enschot

The village of Berkel-Enschot, located northeast of Tilburg, is surrounded by nature reserves. The Kampina, Loonse and Drunense Dunes and the Oisterwijkse Forests and Fens. Plenty of options for outdoor enthusiasts.

Here is a detached house equipped with unique louvers. By Sunshield, in collaboration with construction supervisor Raad & Uitvoering in Tilburg.

The window on the first floor in the east facade got a tiltable slat system of 16 m2. This starts at the bottom as a rectangle, but after about one meter it turns into a triangular shape.

A combination of two louver systems has been placed above the front door in the south facade. The skylight on the roof apparently continues seamlessly into the system of the facade louvers above the entrance.

The lower rectangle is 640 mm high. The louvers of this blind are put in a fixed angle at 45°. The other louver systems are powered by an electric motor. Opening and closing is centrally controlled via home automation.

The residents have opted for the 107-E louver. A slat with a width of 107 mm. This slat has a groove so that the slats not only fall over each other, but also into each other.

The 107-E louver has a step size of 90 mm. When the slats are fully open, there is a 9 centimetre view between the blades. This space offers access of plenty of daylight, and a great see through.

The aluminium components are coated in traffic black, RAL 9017. The plastic parts, such as the clips that hold and tilt the slats, are also black.
