Multiple Shapes, 107E, Residence, Urk, NL
Urk was an island in the former Zuiderzee. It is the smallest municipality in the province of Flevoland, but has the largest fishing fleet in the Netherlands and a particularly picturesque village center.
Here, a detached house has been fitted with unique louvers. Sunshield installed louver systems with tilting blades on three unusually shaped windows. All three are located on the front facade.
The middle louver system is almost two meters wide and over four and a half meters high. This system begins as a rectangle at the base, and the top meter ends with a point at the roof ridge.
The two other louver systems are located to the left and right of the first. Both are trapezoidal in shape. The left one is slightly wider than the right, but otherwise they are mirror images of each other.
When choosing the louver, the owners chose the 107-E louver. Due to the special profile of this louver type, the blades not only overlap but also interlock. As the name suggests, the louvers are 107 millimeters wide, with a 90 mm increment. This means that when fully open, the view between the louvers is 9 centimeters.
The aluminum parts are coated in RAL 7021. The 30% gloss level gives the black-gray color a matte appearance. The plastic parts are black.
The louver systems are motor-driven. Users can easily open and close the louvers with a remote control or set them to any desired position in between,
